Share Your Heart: Become a Heart to Heart Volunteer
Make a Difference in your community by volunteering. Share your skills and talents and help countless families in Hillsborough County get the services and help they need. There are a variety of different volunteer opportunities available for adults and teens. We welcome our volunteers to come on an individual or group basis, depending on the size of the volunteer project. To learn more about our current and ongoing volunteer opportunities, please read the brief descriptions provided below.
Administrative and Office Support
Volunteers are always needed at the South Tampa office to perform clerical duties such as data entry, filing, shredding, answering phones and preparing large mailings. Our main offices are located on Azeele Street in South Tampa.
This “any baby, any family” evidence-informed program for children ages 0 to 5 needs volunteers to assist staff during any of the programs developmental playgroups; Wee Play, Growing Together, Creative Learning, Little Amigos, Wonder Years and other parent workshops. Volunteers are also needed to help maintain and organize children’s playthings, as well as help staff members with bulk mailings, clerical work and other special events.
Breakaway Family Learning Center
Breakaway is a developmental childcare center for infants and toddlers affected by substance abuse. The children’s parents are enrolled in DACCO’s drug abuse rehabilitation program and are required to attend Breakaway for parenting instruction. Located in Temple Terrace, Breakaway needs morning volunteers to rock infants, play with and read to toddlers and help staff with activities. During summer months, volunteers are needed during the week to engage children through play, storytelling and outside activities.
Development & Fundraising Support (Events)
Volunteers are always needed at our special events, such as the Champions Luncheon, the Dream Keepers Ball, and the Holiday Store.
FRANC (Fathers Resource & Networking Center)
The FRANC program offers resources and support to all fathers and father figures to help dads be the best father they can be. Volunteers are needed during weekday hours to perform a wide range of clerical activities, including data entry and confirming appointments.
Volunteers can be very helpful and useful to our maintenance staff. Throughout the year, various projects such as landscaping and painting are needed to help keep all our offices and other off-site locations looking beautiful and safe for our clients and staff.
Our individual programs often have special activities throughout the year that offer hands-on volunteer opportunities. We have special events for our families that require volunteer support year round.
