Champions for Children receives grant from PNC Foundation
TAMPA — Champions for Children, a nationally accredited nonprofit agency whose mission is to build stronger families in the Tampa Bay region, has received a $25,000 grant from the PNC Foundation to support the Champions for Children’s Family Learning Center.
“We are so grateful to the PNC Foundation for their support of this program and other Champions for Children services,” said Brian McEwen. “Educating families in more effective ways to raise their children has a great impact on each child’s development and ultimately strengthens our entire community. PNC Foundation has been a great partner in helping us reach families to achieve our mission.”
The Family Learning Center at Champions for Children serves parents and their children through child care services and family engagement, education and child development services. Grant funds will support early childhood development and family strengthening programs specifically for the families of women participating in substance-abuse treatment programs of the Drug Abuse Comprehensive Coordinating Office (DACCO), one of Florida’s largest community-based providers of behavioral health services. It is expected that the grant will serve more than 200 mothers and their children.
