Associate Director, Nikki Daniels, Speaks on Florida Fatherhood Initiative Panel
Spectrum News – In-Focus
This past legislative session, state leaders took on what they said is a “fatherhood crisis” in Florida, passing into law a bill that provides about $70 million to bolster programs targeted to equip fathers with parenting resources and to help foster youth.
According to the 2021 U.S. Census Bureau, 25% of American children live without a biological, step-, or adoptive father in the home.
Under the bill, the state Department of Children and Families will be directed to contract for the creation of the “Responsible Fatherhood Initiative,” and a media campaign that may include celebrities.
What all does the new law fund, and what impact does it stand to have on increasing father engagement?
