Champions for Children has been awarded a five-year grant from the Federal Office of Family Assistance and the Administration for Children & Families to continue our work with the Positive Parenting & Partnership (P3) program.
Positive Parenting Partnership (P3) at Champions for Children positively impacts parenting skills by focusing on healthy relationships among co-parents; marriage and couple stability; financial health; and increased parenting confidence.
Between 2015-2020, P3 has reached more than 1,200 participants. At the completion of the 5-year grant, 80% of our participants completed services. Of the individuals enrolled in the program, 100% received individual services and referrals within the first week and 95% attended their first workshop within a week; 99% within the first month.
Families who participated in P3’s program demonstrated significantly lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression after completing the program. Maternal depression during children’s early development is linked to the child’s increased lifelong risk for mental health disorders. However, studies reveal that with early intervention, such as with the P3 program, this negative trajectory may be halted.
In the next 5 years, P3 plans to continue to provide tailored interventions designed to positively impact parenting skills. The focus will be on a) relationship health b) family structure, stability, and functioning c) parenting and co-parenting skills, and d) adult and child well-being.
We could not have done this work without so many of our fantastic community partners.
Please take a few minutes to watch this recap of the past five years. We are grateful for this opportunity that helped us serve over 1,200 families who demonstrated significant improvements in communication, parenting behaviors, relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, and stress. We are incredibly proud to be able to have this impact on children and families in our community.
