Providing support and education for parents in partnership with Cove Behavioral Health.

Every parent in every family deserves the chance to strengthen their connection with their children. While moms and dads work with our partners Cove Behavioral Health to strengthen and rebuild themselves, the Family Learning Center works with them to strengthen and rebuild their families. Family Learning Center Services

If you are a parent who is recovering from a substance use disorder and actively participating in services at Cove Behavioral Health, the Family Learning Center offers a wide range of classes, playgroups, support groups, and seminars to help you re-establish strong, healthy, and truly lasting relationships with your children. We also operate an Early Head Start child care center onsite, enrolling eligible children from 6 weeks to 3 years.

Educational Playgroups

Our Rainbow Playgroups offer a unique visitation opportunity for children of inpatient moms at Cove Behavioral Health. Leading up to each visit, our staff will work with you to identify your goals for the visit and help you prepare to achieve those goals. Then, on the day of the visit, we are on hand providing gentle facilitation and encouragement to support positive interactions that strengthen the relationship between you and your child(ren). Following each Rainbow Playgroup is a Rainbow Reflection group, allowing mothers to process their visits together.

This service is only available to current inpatients at the Cove Behavioral Health women’s facility with children aged 0-17.

Classes & Workshops

In our group-based class, participants develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes and that support nurturing parenting. During each session, parents learn skills and knowledge to build and maintain healthy, positive relationships with their children as well as their co-parent(s), while being supported by other parents who share their challenges and joys. Separate cohorts are offered for mothers and fathers.

This service is only available to current inpatients and outpatients at Cove Behavioral Health with children aged 0-13.

Each session in this multi-week series focuses on a different stage of your child’s development, from before they are even born until the time they turn 10 years old. This will help you prepare for each stage with confidence, regardless of where your child is currently on the developmental spectrum!

Other Family Support Services

An ongoing weekly support group for women who are pregnant or have an infant up to crawling age. Knowledgeable facilitators are present to answer questions and connect to appropriate resources in the community.

This service is only available to current inpatients and outpatients at the Cove Behavioral Health women’s facility who are in their third trimester of pregnancy or have a child who is not yet walking.

We offer Early Head Start child care services for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years. Our small facility can accommodate up to 27 children, with on-site management and qualified teachers who have vast knowledge in child development and curriculum. All meals are catered, and fun family activities are planned monthly.

All Family Learning Center services have some eligibility requirements. Most services are only available to current patients at Cove Behavioral Health. Some are available for all patients, while others are available for inpatients only, or only for patients at the women’s facility. Child care is open to the community, but participants must qualify for Early Head Start and/or School Readiness. Most services require being a current patient at Cove Behavioral Health. Once you are a patient, you can request to enroll in Family Learning Center services via your case manager.

All Family Learning Center services take place at Cove Behavioral Health, located at 4422 E. Columbus Ave., Tampa FL 33605. Our staff are embedded in the women’s facility on-site.
