Champions’ Parents as Teachers Named Blue Ribbon Affiliate

We are excited to announce that Champions for Children has been recognized as a Parents as Teachers Blue Ribbon Affiliate!  

Since 2021, Yohama and her son Roger have consistently participated in Parents as Teachers.  Yohama says the program helps parents by giving them the tools they need to better interact with their children. She says her parent educator has helped her and Roger in activities that have both helped him to learn developmental skills and laugh again. 

The Blue Ribbon Affiliate recognition speaks to the program’s commitment and dedication to offering parents, like Yohama, quality services in support of early childhood learning and parent engagement. Champions is proud to have met 100% of the quality standards required for the affiliate status.  

Champions for Children has offered Parents as Teachers since 2000. The program, which has been in existence for more than 35 years, is an evidence-based home visiting program that promotes healthy development and school readiness. It provides guidance and support to enhance the well-being and relationships of children and families, from pregnancy to kindergarten.  

Parents as Teachers’ mission is to promote the optimal early development, learning and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers. Champions offers the program to help parents become their child’s first and best teacher.  Parents learn how to bond with their children through fun and meaningful activities that involve working, playing, and reading together. These activities also assist children in reaching their full developmental and emotional potential.
