Champions Awarded Platinum for Family Friendly Business

Champions for Children was recently named a 2023 Platinum award recipient of Thrive by Five’s Family Friendly Business Award!

Dr. Fred Hicks is CEO for the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County. During the ceremony, Hicks said, “Everyone has the opportunity to impact the life of a child.”

Fifty percent of children in Hillsborough County enter kindergarten ready to learn. Hicks reminded the audience that each organization and individual’s contribution is needed to bring a child’s readiness to 100%.

Champions recognizes that by cultivating workplaces that support families, children will become more ready to enter school ready to learn.

The Family Friendly Business Award recognizes companies that foster a workplace culture in support of the needs of employees and their families. Platinum recipients are considered distinguished leaders and meet at least two family-friendly policies in each of the first four categories. Additionally, they must meet one policy in each of the three Platinum-level categories. Companies are evaluated on paid leave allowances, health support benefits, flexible work schedules, and economic support for families. Champions is proud to have met these qualifications, as the organization is committed to staff development, an inclusive climate, comprehensive benefits, and work/life balance.

Eleven awardees received Platinum-level achievement with a total of 42 award recipients.

Working with partners across sectors, Thrive by Five promotes the equitable development and lifelong success of children aged 0-5. Champions for Children is proud to be a partner and named as a 2023 award recipient.

Special thanks to Dianne Jacob, Champions for Children board chair, for accepting this award on behalf of Champions for Children!
