Keep Children Happy, Healthy, and Safe
Prevention starts when you give.
Did you know that Champions for Children relies on private donations from supporters like you in order to deliver our child abuse prevention and family education programs to Tampa Bay families?
The past year has been a mixed one for Tampa Bay children and families, defined by unprecedented stressors juxtaposed with joyous reunions and milestones. If you are among those fortunate enough to have means as we head into this holiday season, perhaps you are considering how you can best help our neighbors who are struggling right now. This week, we hope you’ll take just a few moments to read about how you can make a significant and lifelong impact on thousands of Tampa Bay families by making a donation to Champions for Children.
Why is it important to support Tampa Bay families now?
Child abuse and neglect – and their downstream effects ranging from academic failure to reduced life expectancy – are complex and urgent problems. This year, nearly 17,000 babies will be born in Hillsborough County, and every one of them deserves a life free from these tragic circumstances. By investing in the well-being of children and families today, we can ensure a happy, healthy, and safe childhood for every child and a brighter future for Tampa Bay.
Why should I give to Champions for Children?
As one of the only organizations in the state of Florida to focus exclusively on the prevention of child abuse and neglect through family education, Champions is uniquely positioned to recognize and address the risk factors that are affecting families right now. Just this year, we opened two new Baby Cafe locations; expanded our child abuse and bullying prevention puppet shows to reach younger students; and partnered with 20+ community locations to host “book corners” to promote positive parent-child time in places where families gather. All of these services are free, ensuring they are accessible to those who need them most – but we can’t do it without your help! Check out our Platinum-rated GuideStar profile to learn more.
What’s the best way to make a donation?
We are grateful for donations of all sizes and types. One-time donations can be made online at cfctb.org/donate or made out to Champions for Children and mailed to the address below. Monthly donations of any size – even just $5 – and credit card “round ups” are another powerful way to make a difference. When you set up one of these types of gifts, you will automatically become a member of our Champion Builders society and enjoy special “impact updates,” event invitations, and a free gift just for joining!

Does Champions for Children have “greatest needs” right now?
Yes! Our funding needs are always evolving alongside the ever-changing needs of families, and by giving a general gift to support our mission, you can be certain your contribution will be used in the area of greatest need. However, if you have a particular passion for a certain program of Champions for Children, we would love to direct your contribution to what’s most meaningful to you. Our Layla’s House, Kids on the Block, and Great We Grow programs are among those that have significant funding needs right now.
