It’s Fall Y’all
Celebrating the season with your kids
It’s fall y’all! With the small cold front we experienced this week, it’s finally starting to feel like fall here in sunny Florida. There are pumpkins and fall themed decor all around us! There’s nothing like celebrating a new season with your family. Check out these crafts and weekend adventures to do with the family.
Fall Craft Activities
Pumpkin Sensory Bag (6 months +)
Carving pumpkins is fun, but the gooey insides are even more fun for kids to explore! For this sensory activity, take the insides of a pumpkin and place them inside of a ziplock bag for mess-free sensory fun!
Fall Fun Shaving Cream Activity (2 years old +)
Shaving cream is a fan favorite amongst most kids. It’s a great sensory material to play with and it’s super easy to clean up too. For this activity, all you need is a tray, shaving cream and orange food coloring. Add the shaving cream and food coloring to a tray and you’re all set! Let your child take it from here to create fun fall designs.
Classic handprint turkey
Everyone loves making the classic handprint turkey. Get creative with the colors and decorations used to create the turkey. This is a great opportunity to allow your child to explore.
Fall Weekend Adventures
Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Kerby’s Nursey & Pumpkin Patch and the Hyde Park Village Pumpkin Patch are both free! You will find all kinds of pumpkins, corn stalks, straw bales, hay bales, firewood and more. This is the perfect family outing for your child to explore and have fun with all things fall while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Decorate a pumpkin
Once you pick up a pumpkin from your local pumpkin patch or grocery store and decorate it with your child. You can use markers, stickers, paint or even carve it! The possibilities are endless. Once the decorating is done, take a photo and share your child’s masterpiece with family and friends.
Read some of these autumn-themed children’s books
Reading to your child from birth helps you fill their brains with words and thoughts that make all the difference to their happiness and future. It also helps build a strong and trusting bond between you and your child. Here are a few fall-themed children’s books to read to or with your child. Youtube is also a great source for read-aloud books. Check out this Clifford’s First Autumn read aloud.
We hope you welcome the fall season with some of these crafts and activities. Use this as a time to bond with your children and strengthen the foundation of your family.
