Dr. Moira J. Burke – 2025 Cornelia Corbett Child Advocate Award Honoree
Champions for Children is proud to announce Dr. Moira J. Burke as the 2025 recipient of the Cornelia Corbett Child Advocate Award. Each year, CFC presents this honor to a prominent community member who, through their philanthropy and advocacy, has made a significant contribution to the welfare of children in the Tampa Bay area.
“Dr. Burke’s contribution to children and families has left a profound impact on the Tampa Bay area. She is a leader in compassion and generosity- an advocate and true champion for children and their future,” says CFC Board Chair Dr. Bonnie Saks.
Burke is a distinguished leader, retired physician, clinical professor, philanthropist and dedicated advocate for children and families in our community. Burke has a career spanning decades in both medicine and community service. She has served as a tireless champion for the well-being of children, with a focus on education, healthcare and family support initiatives.
Burke’s leadership and philanthropic efforts have had a lasting impact on numerous organizations devoted to child welfare and education. In recognition of her lifelong dedication to improving the lives of children and families, CFC is honored to recognize her with this prestigious award.

The award presentation will take place during Champions for Children’s Light the Way Soirée on the evening of Tuesday, April 29. The Cornelia Corbett Child Advocate Award is a highlight of Champions for Children’s Light the Way campaign, which kicked off April 1 in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Throughout the month, the campaign has featured a series of awareness events, including a community wide “Wear Blue Day” on April 4 and the lighting of local landmarks in blue across Tampa Bay.
