What’s New with Baby Bungalow & Kids on the Block

Our Baby Bungalow & Kids on the Block programs have some exciting updates to share! At Champions, we are always looking for new ways to serve our participants and be a source of constant support. Check out what’s new with these two programs!

Baby Bungalow

Have you ever wanted to attend playgroups at Baby Bungalow, but your schedule hasn’t aligned with the playgroup times? Starting on November 12th, Baby Bungalow will begin offering two Saturday playgroups! Join us for our Mix it Up and Little Amigos playgroups! Mix it Up includes songs, rhymes, storytelling, and open-ended activities. This group is ideal for families with more than one child. Little Amigos is our Spanish language exposure playgroup where families are exposed to Spanish using play, music, stories, and more.

We are also excited to be back at Bayshore Baptist offering the Baby & Me Playgroups! Baby & Me is now offered on Tuesdays at Bayshore Baptist on Tuesdays and Baby Bungalow on Wednesdays.

Kids on the Block

Kids on the Block is SO happy to be physically back in schools! During the past two years, our KOTB program has been hosting virtual shows for schools to ensure we are still able to teach students how to be safe and recognize abuse and neglect. This week our puppeteers performed their first 4th-grade show at Seffner Elementary School. Haley Janeda and Sarah Berrie (4th-grade team) rocked their way through students’ ideas, comments, and questions. They reminded the students to use the 3 R’s to Recognize, Refuse and Report Bullying behavior, as well as what to do to become good Digital Citizens. 3rd-grade shows will follow in a couple of weeks, as we just hired our new puppeteer, Amanda Kronhaus!

Our puppeteers are also using a new style of hoods, designed and manually made by Champions’ very own Claudia Cullen. These are fantastic to use and hide the puppeteer’s face perfectly and provide better air circulation. This helps the kids focus on the puppets and not the puppeteer behind them.

Thanks to a grant from the Levett Foundation, we will also be introducing a few new puppet characters this school year!

Interested in booking a show? Our shows can be booked by any Public or Private Elementary School in Hillsborough County. On a case-by-case basis, performances can be booked in other neighboring counties or in non-school-based venues. For more information or to book a show, visit our Kids on the Block Program page.
