What’s happening at Champions?

New year, same great services!

Happy New Year! 2020 was a year of drastic changes to our daily lives. Months of quarantine, wearing masks, and virtually visiting friends and family became our “new normal,” and will likely be for at least a while longer.  As we look forward to brighter days ahead in 2021, we at Champions know what a difficult time this continues to be, and we remain resolute in our mission to build stronger families with thriving children in our community. Above all else, we want you to know we are here to help you and your family come through stronger than ever.

Here’s a look at what some of our programs have to offer this month on our blog!

Our Kids on the Block educational puppets have resumed virtual shows for Hillsborough County public schools to teach kids how to safely recognize, report, and get help when they or someone they know is suffering from abuse, neglect, bullying, or other unsafe situations. Teachers or school counselors can book a show by visiting our KOTB page.

Great We Grow (Town ‘n’ Country) continues offering Educational Playgroups for the families who have children who attend Town ‘n Country Elementary school and Morgan Woods Elementary Schools remain virtual-only.

New! The Great We Grow program will be relaunching the Parent Leadership Group to focus on enhancing the Early Childhood Systems in Town N’ Country. Parents who sign up for this group will learn and participate in:

  • What the Early Childhood System is and how it impacts families from Prenatal to 3-year-olds.
  • How to be involved with local community providers to ensure that parents have a voice in program services
  • Participate in storytelling (sharing their lived experiences)
  • Helping with local policies to create equity and inclusion for all children in TNC

For Spanish speaking parents, the group will meet on Jan. 7th at 6:30 pm via Zoom. For English speaking parents, the group will meet on Jan. 14th at 6:30 pm via Zoom. Families from Town N’ Country are invited to attend but must register to obtain the Zoom link by calling Jesse Griffin at (813) 804-0472.

Baby Bungalow continues to provide virtual playgroups, workshops, and more for young children, parents, and caregivers. Sign up for playgroups and classes like Infant Massage, Music & More, and the newly added Parenting 2s and 3s by visiting the program page

Positive Parenting and Partnerships (P3) is excited to be revising its service offerings for 2021. In the meantime, all services are temporarily on hold.
